Peace is not just the mere absence of violence or disturbance. It's when there is a possibility of conflict, but you deliberately avoid violence and adopt methods to solve the problem through peaceful means. That is real peace.

Our job is not to teach the standards. It’s to break the standards apart, discover what's interesting about them to students, and then create learning experiences to bridge the two.

Equity and equality are not the same.

A student's behavior usually says far more about what they’re going through than what they’re trying to put you through. Be curious, not furious. See past the acting out to understand the need. All behavior is communication.
