Greenfinches in the golden light of late summer. The dustbin lid has never been busier, as the Weedy Pond waits for the autumn rains. So many finches are attracted & held here by the plentiful supply of water sources. Still no signs whatsoever of Trichomonosis.

A Sedge Warbler drops by on migration to Sub-Saharan Africa. The bird had obviously plugged-in, 'via N Dorset dustbin lid' into the SatNav. A lovely bird - great splash technique. They can fly non-stop over the Sahara & winter in Senegal - Ethiopia & even as far S. as Namibia.

2025 - Lots of insects & seeds but little water. Providing plenty of water has allowed the birds here to have a great breeding season. Place water where it's best for birds - this is not necessarily where you can see the bird bath - a location in cover will often be preferred.

Just for those who are so kindly concerned, yes, I replaced all the water tubs, etc. last night, and stood there in the woods until dark, in case the boys came back. So the night animals had their water, and there was a nice surprise this morning, showing the good side of human

This poor🦔is Liberty. Seen lying on the side of a road & taken to the finders garden where he thought she’d be safe. She then got trapped in chain link fencing&had to be cut free. She’s in a critical condition, her breathing is compromised😢.We’re doing everything we can 4 her.
