You have been incredible. And now the Building Safety Act risks bringing your ghastly landlord back as the 'accountable person' years after the tribunal kicked out his management Michael Gove

Govt moving fast: v strong ground rent consultation. Essential that leaseholders respond. (Because those legging you over certainly will be.) Article to follow gov.uk/government/con…

My column on the men who simply CAN’T handle Mary Earps winning Sports Personality of the Year, and have consequently tried to ruin it for her theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

'The only white they will see this Christmas is plastic sheeting'. It's inhumane to force leaseholders to live on a building site for years.

The last time houses were this hard to afford, cars had not yet been invented, Queen Victoria was on the throne and home ownership was the preserve of a wealthy minority. After ~80 years of homeownership being very achievable, that’s what we’ve gone back to.

To again state the obvious, this makes wealth inequality much worse. A 35-year-old with less-well-off parents needs to earn around £25,000 more per year than their contemporaries with wealthy parents in order to have the same shot at buying a house.

Sad to read of the passing of singer Melanie Safka at 76. My brother introduced me to her music in 1970 with her Candles in the Rain album, which remains my favourite. Lay Down, Leftover Wine… and fantastic covers of Ruby Tuesday and Gone to Carolina In My Mind #RIPMelanie

Wonderful tribute to Sinead O’Connor & Shane McGowan last night at Carnegie Hall. Cait O’Riordan (in green) was one of the original Pogues and in their early days they were the support band to my flatmate’s band at the 100 Club on Oxford Street!

I’m not exaggerating when I say, this is exactly how my grandfather sounded three months before we had to put him in a nursing home
