Celebrating the #OnlineSafetyAct with my amazing NSPCC team 🥳 There have been points where it felt like it would never happen and:  🥬 Our petition outlived the star lettuce and Liz Truss 📚 Parliament dusted off some ancient processes to change the Bill But we did it!

Yesterday we were in Parliament with young people and those affected by online harm to celebrate the Online Safety Act. After 5 years, we're so pleased everyone's hard work has resulted in this groundbreaking new law. Together we're making the online world safe for children.

Year on year we see waiting times increase as the courts continue to battle a backlog of child sexual abuse cases. Meanwhile, many children like Poppy are left without access to support designed to aid their recovery. Minnie Stephenson Sarah Beale NSPCC channel4.com/news/children-…

We are failing children who have been abused. They shouldn't have delays when facing justice. There should be systems in place to support them through this. Megan's figures shine a much needed light on why children, like Poppy, and their families deserve better.

More babies are going without support from health visitors. More children are growing up in poverty. And more young people are waiting months on a mental health waiting list. Sign our petition. bit.ly/42evFT1 We need the next Government to act.

We need the next Govt to champion children. They must be ready to listen and work with children to deliver the changes needed for them to thrive. You can show your support for safer, happier and healthier childhoods by signing our petition: bit.ly/42evFT1

Soon there will be a general election and, as part of our newly launched campaign, children have something to say. #ChildrenAtTheTable act.nspcc.org.uk/page/142399/pe…

Grim stats out today but the reality of what is happening. We need to predict future risks to our children's safety and make sure they're protected online.

"Everyone understands that the parlous fiscal position makes it difficult to restore vital services overnight, but there are options that reflect the urgency of the need for action." Brown sets out how we can make children a priority under the current fiscal rules. A must read.

More listening to young people please! Great to see my colleagues at the NSPCC championing this and really discussing why change is needed.

Children deserve safer, happier and healthier childhoods. Rachel Reeves met with young people from two of our services, as part of our national #ChildrenAtTheTable tour, to hear their concerns and what they want to see from the next government.

"The tentacles of child poverty touch every part of a life, cut-off opportunity from birth, wrap around education, health, future earning potential and life prospects" If you read anything today, make sure its this incredible piece by Terri White: graziadaily.co.uk/life/real-life…

More than three-quarters of people would support the Government introducing a new Bill to eradicate child poverty. Sir Keir Starmer has the chance to be ambitious for children & set out a mission that ensures they can grow up safer, happier & healthier: standard.co.uk/news/politics/…

As part of our #ChildrenAtTheTable campaign, NSPCC Young People’s Board for Change members attended the Labour Party conference this week to inspire MPs to listen to babies, children and young people. They called on all decision makers to give young people a seat at the table.
