My daughter got her special school place for 2024 confirmed this week and the relief was so overwhelming. I’m so excited for her, the school is outstanding and I can’t wait to see her thrive in an environment that can fully meet her needs 🥰✨

I’m becoming increasingly worried with the polarised views on trauma informed approaches Vs traditional approaches. Why does it have to be one or the other? Trauma informed doesn’t mean soft and fluffy it just means taking a child’s ACEs into consideration.

Health Inequality in the U.K. means that someone in Blackpool will, on average, die 25 yrs earlier than in the more prosperous south, that black women are 9 times more likely to die in child birth, that the poorest are more likely to die on an NHS waiting list etc

For what it’s worth you can celebrate schools with excellent P8 scores without taking shots at schools who don’t have them. Same with inspection ratings. We are all working just as hard wherever we are.

This week we introduced knowledge quizzing for students during assembly.
I led the sessions for all year groups and every single group was fantastic 🙌🏼 Nice to see students pleased with themselves for their successes. Excited to see the impact moving forward.

Consistency and familiarity are not to be underestimated in schools.
The speed at which classes I taught last year dropped straight back into routines has been impressive.
Makes for a very swift and impactful start to the year.

Congrats to everyone receiving GCSE results today! Staff -be kind to yourself if results aren’t what you expected. Doesn’t take anything away from your effort. All have different challenges& contexts. Education& teaching is a crazy ride. Here’s to another year where we go again👏🏼

It’s concerning that Blackpool is worst hit by the cuts when you consider we top the worst lists for health inequalities, deprivation and poverty.

At the ripe old age of 30 and I still have absolutely no concept of cooking pasta portion sizes.

Big favour to ask:
Do I follow any primary/nursery/EYFS based SENCos that would be willing to cast an eye over my 3 y/o daughters draft EHCP?
I have a few days left to submit amendments but unsure what exactly I’m looking for in order for it to be effective.
