.Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller says TDA is working hand-in-glove with Dept. of Agriculture to prepare and protect the country against New World screwworm. He said they've set aside money to disperse fly traps along the Rio Grande so we can monitor for NWS.

.Texas Agriculture's Sid Miller said he's concerned New World screwworm will piggy-back into the U.S. So they're monitoring cruise ships coming in and other imports. He's spoken to Gov. Abbott about adding screwworms to the interim charges for the legislature.

.National Cattlemen's Beef Association's President Buck W. is in the Valley today at the announcement. He said this is a great step of several in protecting the U.S. against the threat of New World screwworm. He said NCBA is grateful USDA & Rollins are looking out for the livestock industry.

Currently, we have a sterile fly facility in Panama. USDA has invested in retrofitting a fruit fly facility in Chiapas, Mexico to produce sterile flies. The dispersal facility in #Texas would greatly enhance the US' ability to protect wildlife/livestock in the US.

Jessica Domel Secretary Brooke Rollins Dept. of Agriculture Moore Air Base has never been closed. It has been in operation as a citrus fruit fly rearing and release facility for the nations citrus industry since the 1960s. Glad to see the enthusiasm once again for a very good location in combating everything coming from Mexico.
