🧵 Bangladesh’s Prothom Alo newspaper has a front-page story on the final moments of Hasina’s tenure. She insisted on using brute force until only 45 minutes before her departure; no amount of pleading from her aides and officials could persuade her to relent. 1/n

Out of all the crises in the world right now, the Burmese resistance asks the least from the int’l community. Not even sympathy; not even money; not even weapons. We don’t even complain. We don’t even ask for attention when civilians are dying in many places across the country.

It is heartbreaking to see bodies of #Rohingya wash up on the shores of a country that has just won a revolution for rights. There is a lot going on in #Bangladesh, but democracy is strengthened when it is inclusive, when it recognises and supports the rights of 'others'.
