I am sick and tired of people saying "I am not a fan of..." I have never heard anyone say in my lifetime "I am not a fan of the Pope." You can like the Pope and admire him but not be a fan (music groups, movies, books, etc, that is acceptable). BTW I am no fan of religion.

“If I had a thousand sons, the first humane principle I would teach them should be to forswear thin potations and to addict themselves to sack.” Falstaff makes the case for strong drink in this incredible scene from 'Chimes at Midnight' (1965), discussed in my new video with

Fellow BUSTER KEATON fans will enjoy Jim Jarmusch telling the story of how if it hadn’t been for JAMES MASON buying Keaton’s old house in Los Angeles in the 1980’s almost every film Buster made would’ve been lost to us forever. Incredible stuff.

Kinski’s unhinged performance, the mystical score by Popol Vuh, and the lush, hallucinatory jungle images come together in one of the most haunting, deliriously inspired visions in all of 1970s cinema, a senses-shattering journey to the edge of madness.

Clearly one of the more regrettable ways of describing Hollywood in the 70's Films did not look awful in those days, at all. Underexposed lighting in some of them but not all - Chinatown, Mean Streets, Network, Taxi Driver, The Godfather. These films look awful?

Every one. Al Pacino is a genius of the craft, and a terrific guy. I met Al when I was 20, doing summer stock at the legendary Provincetown Playhouse-on-the-Wharf. I saw him off-Broadway in The Indian Wants the Bronx with John Cazale. Every young New York actor who saw that

I am not for contrarian opinions because it always feels forced unless you truly don't like something. But if you are consistently contrarian with film opinions, usually bordering on the negative, then clearly film is not for you.

I don't think this will be Pacino's last great role(s). The guy is still living and may still give another knockout performance. This scene is truly hysterical.
