#2 It's only March but he wasn't looking like he'd been hibernating! He was very heavy and beautiful but I don't need a BIG bear visiting me. Nature tooooo close!

Saw my eldest daughter - it's spring break. Plans? The grandsons requested to go to TWO libraries! Raising 'em right!!! Proud Nana!

Hi everyone, A note to say I've fallen behind on posts. I have a chronic illness; it's been acting up since January - trying new medicine but I can't catch up! I'm sorry for missed celebrations, etc. Know that I'm excited and happy for all!

Today I read for 2 hours (grades k-3) for Read Aloud at the school where I taught for 27 years. One of my former students is the school resource officer - he came and hugged me and the children couldn't believe it - "she really DID teach him." He is the celebrity!

#2 - I had a great day with the children, but when my former student, now Officer Haston, sat and listened to one of my books, it was a great moment for me. I am so very proud of him. He gives to our community in so many ways.

#3 The question when he left - so how old are you? Yep, I knew that was coming!

Sorry to not reply to anything. Went on a two day fun trip with my husband. Came home and got sick. Feeling better enough to post this. I'll be out for a while. Missing all of you but not enough to even read you.

I was excited and honored to read to the fifth grade students at Tadmore Elementary School. A colleague I taught with here in Virginia made the connection to Georgia.#1

The librarian, Natalie Riley, set up everything for me on Skype since technology isn't my specialty, and the students showed their knowledge of integration/segregation and writing/reading.

#3 Thanks to everyone there - it's so great to see students who care about important aspects of our nation's history and the ongoing issue of race.

Babysat the grandsons recently: Ended up with an almost fractured thumb! Couldn't type... will work to catch up! maybe too old for some of babysitting work?

I may have trouble typing today - yesterday was baking a cake and it required peeled apples; used a tool my husband just bought, pared my pinkie. Now have a huge bandage on said pinkie.#1

Can't get it wet for another day... it looks kind of like the end of a baseball bat. oh well. Better today but limiting for typing.#2

everything i've written today hasn't been capitalized. i just can't use the pinky finger. explained in another post. i'll try to respond in another day when this bandage is off.

The Ezra Jack Keats awards have been announced today. Please go check it out! I won this award in 2017 for my picture book, A PIECE OF HOME. It was an amazing moment for me! Congrats to new winners!
