Still can't understand how the Judge could approve the House settlement. It doesn't address the underlying anti trust concerns and leaves open the very likely scenario of further antitrust actions against the NCAA. I give it two years max before the system gets upended again.

For those waking up to the Devers trade: Red Sox are getting hammered in the media, but pundits seem to be ignoring the financial side. Not sure what his true value is, but with his defensive limitations, hard to argue it’s much more than the $280M+ he’s owed over ~8 years.

NIL 🚫 Name, Image, and Likeness NIL = Now It's Legal The only reason we call payments to athletes "NIL" is to maintain whatever vail of amateurism the NCAA hopes still exists. Also, to deny what is clearly an employee/employer relationship.

I'm not as attuned to labor negotiations in the NHL, but I'm scratching my head a bit here. This article mentioned numerous ways teams are benefitting from the new CBA, but what did the players get in return? nytimes.com/athletic/64534…

The consensus among people who ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT is that daily fantasy (actual DFS, not the prop betting sites masquerading as DFS) is a game of skill and shouldn't fall under standard definitions of gambling. legalsportsreport.com/236790/califor…

To be considered a game of skill, you generally need two things: 1. It needs to be obvious that the game has skill based elements. 2. "Skilled" individuals need to win in the long run. DFS very clearly meet these criteria. Not sure what California AG is trying to achieve here

Cal Raleigh winning the #HRDerby was awesome—winning the first round tiebreaker “by an inch” was wild. But… how many people realize those distances (even with 8 decimals shown!) aren’t exact? Statcast measures have margin of errors. Rooker’s ball could have gone farther!

Did you know you have (practically) an infinite number of #10 prospects in your system? You trade your current #10 and guess what happens..... Your #11 is now #10. Let's stop announcing trades based on the prospect's place in your system please!!!

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. This is unequivocally the best path forward for the future of college athletics. An antitrust exemption is NOT the right solution and would only add to labor inequities. Unionization solves many current problems. espn.com/college-sports…

Food for thought.... Would a solution to the NBA tanking problem be to eliminate the NBA rookie scale? If drafted players could negotiate with the risk of returning to school (like with baseball), rookie salaries would be higher, which would make tanking for them less attractive.
