An incredibly thoughtful piece by Elamin Abdelmahmoud "Watching the way West gets talked about is at times sickening and confounding." buzzfeednews.com/article/elamin…

Whenever someone is being a real grump for a while, I call them a Grumpalumpagus. But only in my head.....Yes it’s you.

Thread: Thanks to ECTS_Science for inviting me to speak today on What is New in Basic Bone Biology Techniques at #ECTS2021. It is an overview of many interesting papers over the past 18 months, so to make it simple for listeners, here’s a thread of the papers I’ll discuss. 1/21

We publish a paper using yeast as a model system. Gets noticed by a foundation which specifically solicits us to apply for a grant. Reviews? ‘Innovative proposal but sorry we don’t fund work in yeast; come back when you have mammalian data.’ 🤯🤯🤯

Today is #InternationalWomensDay, and that's an opportunity to highlight some of the many women I know who write about science, health and tech. This isn't an exhaustive list -- that would be really *really* long. It's just a bunch of folks who I'd like to highlight.

Faculty are 25 times more likely to have a parent with a PhD. I just remembered that when I was a kid, our window AC unit leaked onto our carpet and a giant mushroom appeared overnight. If you're 1st gen and you also had a mushroom in your living room I see you.
