So many people have already made good points about the BBC documentary 'Sickness and Lies' which is about r/illnessfakers and accusations of faking chronic illness towards chronically ill people with social media followings. I've watched it twice and I have some thoughts.

Hey doctors, if a patient shows up with a "kitchen sink" list of symptoms that gives you the impression they've scrutinized every inch of their body, it is because they're trying to help you do your job.

I just watched a short video on Facebook (not gonna share here) from an autism mom that a relative sent me. Friends, she was crying -- because everyone had lied to her about what autism was. Because she was taught to fear her kid's diagnosis. She read, she listened to us.

How do you think it feels, knowing that if you got Covid and ended up in hospital, your life would be ignored so that someone else (with the same virus) could live. There's a reason that many disabled people independently chose to shield. We knew we'd be worth less to them.

GPs and everyone who works with them need more support, time, funding and access to thorough, up to date training. Blaming them for the state of our health system just doesn't add up. We need them to be able to do their jobs.
