A Thought: Can we stop showing Black and White pictures of the entire decade of the 1960s so people stop thinking it was 1000 years ago. I’m two years younger than the Civil Rights movement. And Ruby Bridges lives down the street from me and is on Instagram.

Hear me out. Instead of holding these over students’ heads as rewards, incorporate them into lessons anyway. Kids will be more likely to want to join lessons and we won’t need to bribe them to get them there. You don’t need to reward people to do something purposeful & enjoyable.

I’m hearing from many parents about how teachers are performing heroically in difficult and scary times to provide comfort, humor, empathy, and instruction. Teachers are always superheroes. Now they seem to have even another gear of awesomeness. They are the best of #WhatUnitesUs

What children need when the pandemic is over: children’s centres, playgroups, youth clubs, sports clubs, swimming, music & drama groups, days out, birthday parties, visits to museums, the theatre, cinemas, residentials, outdoor ed. What they don’t need: more maths and English.
