I’m so excited for my fellow Harrisonburg City Public Schools employees who are getting their first vaccine today. The other half of the district will get their vaccines next Friday. I can’t wait to see students and coworkers again.

Tonight the Harrisonburg City Public Schools school board unanimously voted to bring back preK-2 and 6th grades as of 3/22. This thoughtful process ensures that staff be vaccinated AND there is wait time after the 2nd shot makes me proud of a system that always puts staff, students and safety first.

It’s only Monday and somehow I’ve already agreed to pie myself in the face during class on Thursday. #relationshipsmatter

My virtual students begged for a reveal party for baby #3. One student made and dropped off at school blue and pink macaroons for me to eat during our session. My other students begged me to pie myself in the face. In an effort to entertain, I did! #babyreveal #virtuallearning

February is oftentimes a hard month for educators. We gotta dig deep. We gotta lift each other up. And we gotta remember why we do what we do. The students need us… more than many of us realize. We’re not just showing up for “work”... we’re showing up for the kids.

As part of #youthartmonth, HCPS art students created a virtual museum of all their work this school year. I have so missed student art and this is truly an awesome experience. Our students and fine arts teachers rock! Harrisonburg City Public Schools harrisonburg.k12.va.us/FineArts/Porta…

Each student walking down the hall deserves eye contact and a positive greeting. This is an easy way to model 'adulting' for our students. #edchat #education

In a letter, 133 Virginia school superintendents chided Youngkin’s education department over its audit that broadly scrapped diversity resources offered by the state. They said the report could “set public education Virginia back many years,” protested not being consulted.
