Why has the United States handled this pandemic so badly? The Editors note that although we came into this crisis with enormous advantages, our current political leaders have demonstrated that they are dangerously incompetent.

1) I am increasingly alarmed with the lack of Oklahoma Hospital Capacity. We are seeing Hospitals on divert in multiple Hospital Regions due to the increasing absence of ICU or Covid Beds. At times there are no ICU beds in a entire Hospital region.

2) Patients needing a hospital bed are experiencing longer wait times to be placed and in some cases must be sent to other hospitals more than an hour away. The quality of medical care Oklahoma patients may receive is now suffering due to lack of hospital capacity.

3) We simply do not have the medical staff(nurses, physicians) to increase bed capacity. As we lose the ability to timely place patients into a hospital bed and as the ratio of nurses to patients decreases, the quality of care delivered declines. Oklahomans should be concerned.

Oklahoma needs universal face masking to protect their citizens, save lives, help strained healthcare workers and to keep their businesses from going bankrupt. We need this in Oklahoma right now!

Currently there is a letter circulating asking for a special session so legislation can be passed barring hospitals and other organizations from requiring COVID vaccinations.Should we also bar having restaurant employees wash their hands after going to the bathroom? #typhoidmary

Dr. George Monks, M.D. put it bluntly yesterday about how it's not too late to be vaccinated + what's at stake. “If you've been on the fence, if you've thought that the pandemic was behind us, it isn't, and this new delta variant is looking for you." bit.ly/3wTANKU

If you are taking a medication made for cows to treat a disease that you think is fake or exaggerated but you won’t take an almost 100% effective vaccine that is thoroughly tested because it hasn’t officially been approved by the FDA, it may be time to question your sources

“I think this issue has been unnecessarily politicized. We are talking about the safety of schoolchildren here,” said attorney Chad C. Taylor.” We’ve basically left it to having the 12-and-under students wash their hands and wish them good luck.” #oklaed tulsaworld.com/news/local/edu…
