NACC has long advocated for a system of shared accountability; our global counterpart IATA has now endorsed the concept and highlited NACC’s role in advocating for this system Omar Alghabra.

After trekking to base camp of the highest point on earth last year, today we visited the lowest point on earth at the Dead Sea, complete with mud bath and floating!

Bill C-52 that was tabled yesterday by Omar Alghabra is a good first step towards implementing a system of shared accountability in Cda's aviation sector, but additions to the bill are needed to enact true accountability. Read NACC's statement here:

Today I joined a group of airlines, airports, and partners in signing an open letter in the Globe&Mail et La Presse calling on governments to develop a domestic Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) market in Cda - a key step towards achieving net zero by 2050.

Agreed. A true shared accountability system is essential. NACC will be meeting with air travel ecosystem partners over the summer to discuss a shared accountability operational framework as envisioned in our May 2023 report: airlinecouncil.ca/nacc-releases-…

Although I've only worked with Omar Alghabra for the past year, and although we may not have agreed on every issue, I found the Minister open to dialogue and engagement and respectful of views. Congrats to the Minister on his decision and on a highly successful political career.

Canada’s airlines congratulate Pablo Rodriguez on your appointment as Minister of Transport! NACC looks forward to working with you to advance policies aimed at promoting a more sustainable, safe, competitive, accessible aviation sector.

I was pleased to coauthor an op.ed in today's The Hill Times with Geoff Tauvette of C-SAF discussing the need for a strong federal policy to support a domestic Sustainable Aviation Fuel market in Canada - check it out! airlinecouncil.ca/wp-content/upl…

Sustainable aviation fuels offer a much-needed path to decarbonizing air travel now. Lab Fellow Geoffrey Tauvette (C-SAF) & Jeff Morrison (he/him) argue Feds should act quickly to kickstart commercializing the technology in Canada. Read the The Hill Times op-ed: hilltimes.com/story/2023/08/…

NACC President and CEO Jeff Morrison (he/him) joined CP24 yesterday to discuss improvements in air travel over the summer of 2023, changes coming to the CTA claims process, and the key role that airlines are playing in resolving passenger claims.

NACC's top recommendation to the federal govt heading into the 2024 budget making cycle is to introduce policies to incentivize domestic SAF production in Canada - a clear requirement if Canada is to be a global leader in aviation decarbonization.

Thanks Willie and IATA for their thoughts and focus on Canada's APPR proposals. Tourism, airports, air navigation, unions, and now international organizations have all raised concerns with the proposals as released in July 2023.

This is great news - if the federal government introduced a SAF production incentive policy for Canada, similar to what other countries are introducing, Canada could become a global leader in SAF production and usage.

NACC was aware that ICAO was conducting a Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program audit on Canada over the last few months. This audit is not a review of Canada's airlines or other aviation operators but rather of the government’s processes. ctvnews.ca/business/fligh…

NACC-CNLA (@nacc_cnla) 's Twitter Profile Photo

NACC has not seen the results of the audit. Canada's aviation system is among the safest in the world. As always, NACC member airlines stand ready to support the government to ensure our aviation ecosystem remains one of the safest and most reliable in the world.

The Canadian government needs to include Sustainable Aviation Fuel incentives in #Budget2024 not only in order to scale up production, but given our abundant resource and skills advantages, to also create a significant new economic opportunity for Canada.

IATA (@iata) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Canada has immense potential for producing #sustainableaviationfuels. Yet government failing to implement incentives to ensure domestic production. IATA #NetZero Roadmaps show that 80% of aviation's fuel carbon intensity reduction by 2050 must come from SAF.

Canada's airlines agree that Canada's sick leave framework is broken, as underscored by the referenced Gomez report. Let's put in place a fair, clearly understood system that will continue to benefit employees, and employers. torontosun.com/opinion/column…

IATA fully supports NACC-CNLA's statement and is eager to collaborate through its international members, the Canadian Government, and the disability community to ensure that air travel is fully accessible to everyone.
