Dan O'Bannon's The Return Of The Living Dead: a fun lightweight comedy horror. It's scattershot in its storytelling, but it has some nice concepts. This has good casting, strong visuals & a great score - but it lacks real peril. An entertaining rather than enthralling genre pic.

Andrew Davis' The Fugitive: a near-perfect thriller. Harrison Ford excels in the lead & Tommy Lee Jones chews scenery in support. Expertly crafted, it hits all the right notes in the right order. Tense, thrilling & never bombastic. Hollywood thrillers don't get better than this.

Cameron Crowe‘s Vanilla Sky - a quiet masterpiece. Tom Cruise has never been better at showing his range. Penélope Cruz, Jason Lee & Kurt Russell - all great. It delivers on many levels & stands to repeated viewings because it's rich with themes & undercurrents. Brill music too.

No Time To Die is an impressive ending to Daniel Craig's tenure as 007. Craig is fantastic, the Cuban sequence impresses & the ending resonates. Rami Malek is a disappointing villain & Lashana Lynch is tonally off performance wise. Top tier James Bond when all is said & done.

Italian painter Renato Casaro has passed. His movie posters defined a lot of the 80s for me.

I used to see Vampires as mid-John Carpenter. It's not. The film is top-tier Carpenter - up there with the likes of They Live & Prince Of Darkness. Not premium Carpenter like The Thing but it's certainly improved with age!

Bong Joon Ho personally asked John Carpenter to compose the score for his upcoming horror film—and Carpenter said yes.

Batman Returns might not be a literal live-action version of Batman, but it's an absolute powerhouse piece of cinema. The sets, the visuals, the music, the cast! You'll never see a big budget summer superhero movie as crazy as Batman Returns. I wouldn't have it any other way.
