Good morning from our desert camp.

In the bracken and the heather, Stag was waiting to lead us deeper into the mysteries of the otherworld and enchantment of this one. He’d journeyed many times between the two and wanted to share his secrets. First step, he thought, is just to enjoy the bracken and the heather.

As winter descends on the UK it might help to know that there's still floral colour to be found throughout the winter. There are a small group of plants that lift my spirits between now & February-here are a few of them (& my illustrations alongside):

At Govan 100s of steel units were welded together into vast blocks, measuring 7 decks in height. These segments were then shipped from the Clyde to the Firth of Forth where the 2 carriers were assembled in a huge drydock at Rosyth @babcockinternationalgroup @scottishgallery

Some barn owl love this morning. I have one on my desk that I'm working on right now. Endlessly beautiful. I could paint them again and again. I hope you like these four interpretations. Number 3 is February in my 2026 calendar.

Yes, my heart belongs to donkeys now. But since I was 9 years old little girl it belonged to horses. For my parents it was a ploy to keep me away from boys. Which worked for a while. But the bond with horses always remained.
