this take on civilization is so refreshing to read when I'm trying to write about how contemporary civilizational discourse has gone terribly wrong & tied up with reactionary politics Graeber & Wengrow, The Dawn of Everything

Question: would you, dear readers, be interested in an audiobook edition of Seeing Through the World? Thinking about publishing that later this summer--and subscribers/patrons would receive it first.

Let’s not dismiss Fisher too quickly. I’m no full Fisherian, but his take on Nietzsche’s Last Man rings true here, especially as we face down the illusion of our own impotence before the theater of impunity while being stirred by the tenuous promises of the electoral sphere.

If we are already in relation with latent futures, it behooves us all to aspire towards greater degrees of agency in the face of technocratic dehumanization, presence in the face of rampant clock-time, and freedom in the face of spiritual estrangement.

Today is the fifth anniversary of Michael's passing so, instead of a regular Philosophy for the People essay, I reprinted the introduction I wrote three years ago for Matt McManus's book on Michael's cosmopolitan socialism, with permission from Matt and the publisher.

In case you missed it: a little noticed Florida state dashboard showed several instances of immigration enforcement arresting U.S. citizens. When the Miami New Times asked about it, most of those arrests disappeared from the dashboard and public view.
