How were Colorado's Safety Net Standards determined and is there an equivalent set of these at the national level (Common Core Standards)? #edu6200

The daily learning targets we use for each lesson can combine the content you aim to teach your students with the criteria that will be used to assess their performance. #edu6200

(a) This is the first time I've seen a breakdown of how standards are coded. I'm excited I now know how to easily identify, look up, and write the annotated form of a standard. (b) I'm still becoming familiar with all standards applicable to my students' grade levels. #edu6200

Comparing students' pre-assessments with the KUDs of your upcoming lesson plan can help you identify the "meaningful differences" that exist among your students. These are the differences that should impact and guide your instructional process. #edu6200

If we're striving to get the most accurate depiction of our students' knowledge, we should probably be differentiating our formative assessments just as we would our instruction and summative assessments. #edu6200

Like Morgan, I'm sharing a page from the edutopia site because this one is also good! It gives you 10 quick formative assessment ideas, some different and some we've seen before (#2 is a Twitter Post :p) edutopia.org/discussion/10-… #edu6200

I found the three major points of influence to help children take up a dynamic-learning frame were both interesting and easily applicable in my classroom. I can especially start changing the way I phrase feedback and the way I frame learning activities. #edu6200

The following site provides a bit more detail and advice on giving praise to students in the classroom. interventioncentral.org/behavioral-int… #edu6200

Like many of my classmates, my biggest shift in thinking has been that I need to adjust my feedback language and the way I praise my students. I also would like to incorporate more opportunities for self-assessment in my classroom in the future. #edu6200

Chap. 7- I took away several suggestions for writing constructed response tests in the future, including lining up student response areas in the right margin of the test for quick and easy grading purposes and using direct questions instead of incomplete statements. #edu6200

Chap. 6- My biggest take away was probably that I should never use "all-the-above" as an answer choice when writing multiple choice tests. The reasons given for this made a lot of sense and I will definitely be avoiding them in the future. #edu6200

One take away I had was the use of a simple yes/no checklist or rating scale in evaluating student performance. I think providing my students with one at the start of a PBA project could provide transparency of my expectations and guide them throughout their project. #edu6200

Here is a resource that provides a simple layout for using performance assessment to evaluate students' reading comprehension. teacher.scholastic.com/professional/a… #edu6200

My thinking on standardized tests has gone from an I-don't-think-they're-working kind of attitude to a here's-why-they're-not-working kind of attitude. In short, I'm better informed of both sides of the argument, I respect their purpose, but my view hasn't changed. #edu6200

Q1 - What an excellent comparison to make between the Air Force and our classrooms today. I loved the fact that he discussed everything from their struggle to their thought process to their solutions. It made so much sense and it gives me hope- ban the average! #edu6200

Jdenucci (@jdenucci2) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Q2 - Designing around the average hurts students because as Todd Rose pointed out- there is no average and therefore, we are designing for no one. All students have different strengths and weaknesses. If we don't recognize this, we miss out on SO much potential. #edu6200

While Taylorism is where it all began, I think Thorndike's ideas and overall influence has had the greatest impact on our educational system. In particular, his ideology of sorting students and his creation of standardized tests continues to plague modern day education. #edu6200

"Mussolini and Hitler added their names to Lenin and Stalin as ardent supporters of Taylorism, adopting it for their war industries." I chose this quote because, well, it's disturbing. #edu6200

My thinking has changed, or rather, I have been educated on the reason our educational system was originally structured the way it is. This reading probably had the biggest impact on me- it opened my eyes to just how flawed and behind our system really is. #edu6200
