-“‘Helicopter’ does not come from ‘heli’ and ‘copter,’ but from ‘helico’ (from Greek ‘helix’ meaning “spiral”) plus ‘pter’ (from Greek ‘pteron’ meaning “wing”).” -“Like in ‘pterodactyl’?” -“Girl, exactly.”

As scientists, we are increasingly being asked to tell the public the truth about the crises we face in simple and direct terms. The truth is that we are shocked by the ferocity of the extreme weather events in 2023. We are afraid of the uncharted territory that we have now

“A 1-acre solar farm produces as much energy as 100 acres of corn-based ethanol over the course of a year. Dedicating even a fraction of the land now devoted to ethanol to solar panels would produce more energy and ease the ecological burden on our most prolific farming region.”

Damn. That is a sharp turn for any high population trend line. Keep telling yourselves Covid is mild, folks. That abrupt turn ain't from nothin'

This, folks, is why we already have no choice, but to implement multiple forms of solar reflection to tamp down heat for about a century. We need 30 years to get off of fossil fuels, and then we need at least another 100 to get carbon levels back under 350ppm. SRM or bust!
