14 EFR firefighters & Forest Service are finishing up a 1/10 of an acre fire in Bergen Peak Wilderness area. 10 water bucket drops from FS chopper helped tremendously. Fire is out; still have a smoldering stump putting off smoke. EFR will monitor tonight/tomorrow.

Adam spotted this bobcat family on patrol! Compared to mountain lions, bobcats have short tails, triangular facial features, more spotted coloring with dark bands on their legs, and are much smaller in general. Keep pets on leash, indoors, or in protected enclosures!

Elk entering Elk Meadow Park. With nearly 7 million people visiting parks Jeffco Parks & Open Space, it’s vital that we all do our part to protect wildlife. You can protect wildlife by keeping dogs leashed, staying on trail, respecting closed areas and packing your trash out.

It’s a great year for chokecherries. Wild fruits provide essential fall calories for birds, bears, foxes & coyotes. Don’t collect & eat fruits Jeffco Parks & Open Space parks. #bears need them more than you do. #LairOfTheBearPark
