Yesterday UCS joined scientists and tens of thousands of activists in NYC for the March to #EndFossilFuels. Our message was clear, as is the science: there is no time left to keep burning fossil fuels. Our elected leaders must deliver on a just transition to clean energy now!

The poorest countries have done the least to cause climate change but are being hit the hardest. As the threats grow, the UN says less money is being sent to developing countries to help them adapt. This is something Union of Concerned Scientists will be fighting for at #COP28 npr.org/2023/11/02/121…

Check out our energy analyst Susan Muller's blog "Offshore Wind Will Add Power When New England Needs It Most." She explains how offshore wind being added to the New England grid could have averted last Christmas Eve's energy shortage. blog.ucsusa.org/susan-muller/o…

D'Oh! The October scram of the Turkey Point-3 #nuclear reactor in #Florida at full power was caused when workers testing the reactor protection system of Unit 4 (!) accidentally pushed the wrong button. This isn't the first time that staff there have mixed up the two reactors.

We've lost an icon with the passing of former Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson. Among her many firsts, she was the first Black woman to chair the House Science Committee. rollcall.com/2024/01/02/tex…

Great Utility Dive story on our report on gas plants being disproportionately vulnerable to failure. We found that during all five of the grid-threatening winter storms since 2011, gas plants made up most of the generating capacity that unexpectedly failed utilitydive.com/news/gas-power…

Couldn’t be prouder of Union of Concerned Scientists board member Dr Ben Santer for yet another well deserved recognition for his exceptional visionary climate science leadership.
