I'm a Jew-loving Jew. Anti-Semitism is never ok. Here's what is not anti-Semitism: Peaceful protest, criticism of the Israeli government, calling for an independent Palestine, demanding a ceasefire in Gaza, using the term apartheid to describe Israel, questioning Zionism.

A lot of people compare small modular reactors (SMRs) to solar and batteries. We made them cheap by producing them repeatedly at scale.

But, solar panels didn't get cheap by chopping them up into smaller pieces to make the same total.

We exponentially scaled module production.

For context: at the beginning of 2021, installed battery capacity in California was a rounding error. Now it's cranking out the equivalent power output as six nuclear reactors when grid operators and markets call. That happened fast (and a lot more to come!)

IMO if Democrats want to run on ambitious progressive economic policy 'Medicare buy-in' (which costs the government $0 and saves patients money) is a lot better than promising to create a new childcare system.

The narrative violation is that neither of these are the rate limiting steps — it’s the (now very clearly waived) environmental review, community input, legal challenges, and consultant design cycles.

These are still *left-coded* things so can make a similar political point.

I am usually a big NRC defender but this is terrible science communications. The fact that an NRC video doesn’t mention that no one was hurt or injured at TMI or that the maximum dose of radiation to the public was less than a tenth of a CT scan is pretty irresponsible.

Nuclear and modern renewable energy sources are both vastly safer and cleaner than fossil fuels.

From the perspective of both human health and climate change, it matters less whether we transition to nuclear or renewables, and more that we stop relying on fossil fuels.
