In record time, our pub on RPE ketogenesis is out. Main takeaways: B-HB is not a pure marker of beta-oxidation in the RPE (amino acids abundantly make B-HB) and enzymatic kits do not accurately detect RPE B-HB. You need to do mass spec to detect. tinyurl.com/3wzufwwn

Thanks to Hurley lab and Daniel Hass for allowing us to participate in this project (jbc.org/article/S0021-…). If you push RPE to degrade lipids in the mitochondria, it may secrete less drusen-promoting components, a novel strategy for treating intermediate AMD.
