Interesting analysis on how the the voting on amendments may indicate continued support through to third reading. I hope so.

There are many brave campaigners who got us to this day. For instance, I think back to Rebecca Wilcox, hoping (in vain) Rishi Sunak would bring a bill forward before calling an election. Seems an awful lot longer than 15 months ago! x.com/TalkTV/status/…

That may be so, but it's really none of your business how many birthdays Esther Rantzen chooses to see. Me wanting her to see more birthdays in no way means I feel compelled to legally obstruct her choice not to see her next.

Jason Dixon (@jasond60) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Untrue. Esther has the option of travelling to Switzerland despite believing she should have the right to an assisted death in the UK. She has not yet opted for that, and there's no reason to believe she would have done so to date were it legal here.

So, I guess I am one of "the enemy". Hello. Evangelical Christian Kruger puts all his religious cards on the table, he would never, ever vote for assisted dying, regardless of how the bill looked. Significant that the bill succeeded despite sizeable theocratic opposition.

"This Bill offers something crucial: choice. For those facing the end of life in pain and fear, the knowledge that they have the option to decide how and when they die can bring peace of mind, even if they never use it." inyourarea.co.uk/news/marie-gol…

Having been very quiet prior to the decisive Commons vote, it's good to see Keir Starmer stand up for the democratic wishes of the Commons. independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…

Why are internet trolls spreading fake pictures of Esther Rantzen? I would hate to think assisted dying opponents are doing this. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-…

A lot of Catholics took exception to my use of the word "vindictive" when it came to the public shaming of Chris Coghlan MP 🔶. Irrespective of whether Coghlan should be denied communion, the wisdom of public shaming is questioned in this The Spectator article. spectator.co.uk/article/should…

"I take the view that if I'm suffering very badly you have my permission to take me across to Switzerland and do the business as long as it doesn't get you in trouble. This new bill, in principal I am for it, but it doesn't really apply to Parkinson's" dailymail.co.uk/tv/article-150…

It's disappointing to see "Sarco salesman" Nitschke joining the concerted attacks on Swiss Associations like Pegasos who respect peoples' dignity in death when other countries do not.

Staunch assisted dying opponent Kruger joins Reform. I think he's probably right that the days of Conservative and Labour dominance are over, but it remains to be seen if Reform becomes the right-wing party of choice. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

This story makes people who compare assisted dying with Nazis and the holocaust look rather stupid. bbc.com/news/articles/…
