I'm pleased to see the home office announce new plans to speed up investigations into Police. However, remember that the staff who are investigating are snowed under with work. We represent those officers too, and the pressure on them is unreasonable. They are only human!

Police officers have worked eye watering hours this weekend, officers have come face to face with hatred/violence unimaginable to most. There will be families/loved ones worried sick about whether their son, daughter, husband, wife, mother, or father will return home safely 🙏💙

Put simply: If you engage in violent protests, you will face the full force of the law.

This disorder has had a terrible impact of on communities: people barricaded in properties, businesses destroyed and police officers facing violence while trying to keep people safe. The work of the criminal justice system will continue in overdrive over the coming days.

A Sergeant has to take an exam and is then recompense with a wage increase. A detective has to take an exam and has to pay for their own clothing to do their job. They stay on exactly the same money as a Constable. No incentive!
