Listener Joanne Ryan captured this picture of a Yellow-Crowned Night Heron in Belcarra Co. Mayo yesterday. The North American bird has been spotted in Ireland for the first time. It is believed the bird may have arrived, after getting caught up in a hurricane system last Autumn.

Bottom trawlers devastate "protected" EU waters. Nets as big as football pitches scrape away reefs and destroy marine life. Urge Virginijus Sinkevičius and Ursula von der Leyen to take action now and truly protect the seas. #BanBottomTrawling only.one/bottom-trawling

We’ve tagged 9 new birds for our Cuckoo Tracking Project 😀 Sadly, we’ve lost more than a third of UK Cuckoos in the past 25 years, but satellite tracking is helping BTO to understand the pressures these birds face on their migrations.🌍 Follow the birds➡️ bto.org/cuckoos

(AL) The Irish public really cares about marine protection, biodiversity and other environmental matters. Chairman of Birdwatch Sligo branch Michael Bell feels it's important for elected representatives to take note. Listen back here 👇 Fair Seas #WorldOceanMonth

Exciting news 😃 Cleeve, tagged this year in Norfolk where he featured on BBC The One Show with Hannah Stitfall, has started his migration to Africa! After leaving Norfolk & heading south to the Essex coast, he crossed the Channel to Dunkirk in France before continuing inland. 🌍

🚨 UNDERCOVER: A few weeks ago I visited a salmon farm on the Faroe Islands– what I saw shocked me– it's an environmental and social disaster, it cannot go on. Yet Bakkafrost in the UK are certified RSPCA AssuredRSPCA (England & Wales), do the right thing and drop the scheme 🎣🍣

A great morning watching the American research ship ‘Ocearch’ searching for the White Shark off the Blasket Islands Brilliant if they found that the White Shark was visiting the coast of Ireland Ocearch teaches us “Facts over Fear” when it comes to sharks! OCEARCH
