saw this interesting postcard by Christina Shintani, Woodwell Climate Research Center at #AGU2023. Last time I checked the Arctic Circle was still running at 66° 34' N (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arctic_Ci…), but thanks for the update! Does it come with midnight sun as well?

Our group at @tartuobs University of Tartu (including Oleksandr, Andres Kuusk on pic) was happy to host the first visitor Weiwei Liu after our #AGU23 showcase (agu.confex.com/agu/fm23/meeti…) to discuss how our scanning system could possibly improve studying radiative transfer in conifers, #SIF.

Where's Waldo? kind of moment for #GEDI mission contributors during Jim Kellner talk, session convened by John Armston at #AGU23. It is nice when people do this even if they do not really have to. @tartuobs University of Tartu happy to have contributed. GEDI

Please RT. Come join me - I offer a fully funded #PhD position on a nice, exciting topic – retrieval of leaf angle info with multi-angle #remotesensing. 🇪🇪 University of Tartu @tartuobs. International candidates welcome! Apply by 20 March 2024, full details here: tinyurl.com/y448a4pa

Getting from Hyytiälä Forest Station to ICOS Sweden Svartberget, you get to use the world’s northernmost all year round passenger route Wasaline. If I were not into vegetation, I would be most certainly doing sea ice! Or could there be a link? Field campaign supported by eLTER.

The scaffolding by ACTRIS Sweden at ICOS Sweden Svartberget helps to bring tree crowns closer and makes collecting shoot samples much easier. Anyone who has tried to operate those > 10 m long extendable tree pruners knows what I am talking about! Campaign support by eLTER

PhD position announcement: please share! Interested in joining the amazing FutureScapes team University of Tartu for lab challenges and fieldwork? Fully financed 4y position open on carbon accumulation in soil and dead wood under changing climate, with fungi in focus. w/Ivika Ostonen

Ready to make your #radiativetransfer model more realistic? Our new #DatainBrief piece offers 3D surface geometry dataset of #ScotsPine, #NorwaySpruce shoots from the EU_ScienceHub JRC #Järvselja RAdiation transfer Model Intercomparison (RAMI) pine stand: doi.org/10.1016/j.dib.…

Thrilled to visit Jan Pisek & Oleksandr and their team at @tartuobs University of Tartu via a mobility project from Czech Academy of Sciences & the Estonian Academy of Sciences! Using novel approaches to create 3D models of #spruce and #pine shoots for the #DART radiative transfer model!

At NASA Goddard, I presented our Estonian Research Council-funded, DSCOVR:EPIC mission research in front of Dr. Jack Kaye, Associate Director for Research, NASA Earth Science. Grateful for opportunity by Dr. Alexander Marshak (left), Deputy Project Scientist for DSCOVR mission!

Our first RSE @tartuobs University of Tartu FutureScapes, ETAg-funded paper in 2025: We show that our recent new optical model of a conifer shoot (doi.org/10.1016/j.jqsr…) may be applicable to species with longer, more curved, twisted, convex needles, too: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
