Life news + my last article at Grattan! After the best 3 years with the amazing Grattan Institute team, I'm moving on to work with @AuroraER_Sydney, focusing on the rapidly evolving electricity sector. Enormous thanks to Tony Wood and A theconversation.com/coal-plants-ar…

Talk about momentum! In just over a year, we've seen the outlook for coal power in the National Electricity Market drop about 20% closer to the Step Change scenario. In Step Change, Australia gets to net-zero emissions in line with limiting warming to 2ºC, but not quite 1.5ºC

Qld/NSW electricity prices are getting uncomfortably close to breaching the "cumulative price threshold" (a 7-day average price of $674/MWh). If breached, that would trigger AEMO to cap prices at $300. Table from CEFC

Hey Aus #energy Twitter — Marinus Link funding is meant to be 80% CEFC debt and 20% govt equity. Tas minister says Tas consumers will pay <15%. But if ML is owned 50:50 between TasNetworks and AusNet, Tas consumers still pay half — right? #auspol

Big week (month, year, etc) in Aus Energy! Tune into ABC News to hear me discuss the Govt’s gas price cap bill. The big win this week is the commitment to help households electrify, focusing on those with the toughest barriers. A sensible way to mitigate supply risks #auspol
