NEW: The New York Times has run "opinion roundups" featuring outside writers after each night of the 2 conventions, and after this week's debate. Nine such features total -- and *every single outside writer with clear ideological leaning is conservative.* findinggravity.net/p/the-new-york…

That’s Mark Penn of the Harvard/Harris poll, in case you’re wondering if you should ever take the Harvard/Harris poll seriously.

Monday I started writing about the Vance lie about Haitian immigrants but things came up and it's been too depressing to go back to. I still plan to but for now please read these @parkermolloy: readtpa.com/p/when-a-lie-b… Paul Waldman: paulwaldman.substack.com/p/trump-and-va…

"These nine opinion roundups feature 36 appearances by outside contributors with readily-apparent ideological backgrounds or affiliations — and all 36 are conservatives." They include "two (2) guys named Matt who used to work for The Weekly Standard and zero (0) liberals."

Big news out of Springfield: The Mayor has now confirmed that the emailed bomb threat did contain hateful language about immigrants. Trump and Vance can no longer pretend not to know exactly what their vile demagoguery is accomplishing. New piece from me newrepublic.com/article/185953…

Springfield Mayor Rob Rue, a Republican, says the bomb threat email contained "hateful" language about immigrants and specifically "Haitian folks." Trump/Vance valorize these places, but have no real concern for the impact their demagoguery has on them. newrepublic.com/article/185953…

It really is a sad state of affairs at the The New York Times when it comes to political coverage. Many thanks to Jamison Foser for gathering up the specifics to substantiate this. findinggravity.net/p/the-new-york…

There are a lot of reasons I say that we can be absolutely certain that Trump *wants* the violence; one of them is that when the extremely predictable threats of (and actual) violence result from his rhetoric *he does not change his rhetoric.*

Something that might be useful to keep in mind is that when you ridicule someone who is terrible for physical characteristics irrelevant to them being terrible, other folks catch some strays. Folks who you might not want to hurt.

Has anyone read a really good piece written by (or even from the perspective of) a Haitian immigrant about the harm caused by Trump/Vance lies? I would like to read it! (if you haven't read such a piece, and you have a job that involves commissioning pieces... nudge nudge.)

Joking about this ugly conspiracy actually causes harm right now. We all need to laugh, and I can be as snarky as the next person. But this is not a laughing matter. People are being put in grave danger.

I’m thinking I’ll just not share any polls here from “pollsters” that are direct & explicit like this about releasing polls for purpose of making polling averages redder. It’s one thing to have assumptions that tend to produce R-leaning results. This is just something by else.
