Thrilled to host Ryan Smith as our powderland keynote speaker. He is an incredible champion for Utah and downtown #slc and we’re all lucky to have him. Very impressive hearing his passion and vision first-hand. Stephen Alfandre #powderland2024
If we all want a more inclusive, vibrant and affordable #slc, we need bold actions. I commend Mayor Erin Mendenhall and her team in finding ways to bring more contextually sensitive housing to #slc. Future generations, including my kids, will be grateful we didn't sit on our hands.
9/10 Utahns live on 1.1% of #Utah’s land mass, making it the 8th most urban state in the country. This stat should help drive housing policy. Governor Cox’s plan for detached single family starter homes opposes this data. We need starter homes. Period. Including attached.
Utah is 37,000 housing units short. So why are we implementing setbacks in our urban areas with existing 100’ + wide rights of-way? Salt Lake City Council Mayor Erin Mendenhall nick_norris_slc
The Plat of Zion is the most successful American town planning strategy. But can create a harsh urban, pedestrian realm due to massive blocks & very wide streets. However, these over-sized blocks & streets can provide a lot of flexibility for good urbanism. See GranaryRow
Post is an incredible example of place-making and thoughtful urban development. Love what Brandon Blaser and the Lowe's executed on this city block. Also beautifully connects downtown and The Granary District
New BTR drop. Enjoyed touring Salt Lake City Government planning dept through our new project in Salt Lake to show how zero setbacks and good design can allow for innovative housing. 16’ wide towns and stacked towns allowed 50+ units per acre after entitlement approval.
Excited to share the launch of Sloane townhomes in Central Ninth and just steps from the light rail in the heart of #SLC! 🏡🚊 18 units of thoughtfully designed missing middle housing. Construction kicks off this spring. Building Salt Lake with the shoutout
