We welcome the additional funding provided by the Welsh Government for hospices across Wales. It is now vital that Welsh ministers work with Tŷ Hafan Children's Hospice and Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith Children's Hospices to put children’s hospice care in Wales on sustainable financial footing for the future. bit.ly/4id0azi
Like many, we're watching the debate on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. Grateful to Dame Meg Hillier for highlighting the potential impact on young people. It's why we're calling for amendments to improve safeguarding and guidance ⬇️ bit.ly/40QBTZe
The new Education Committee report highlights important concerns about disabled children's social care, shining a light on the challenges facing many children and their families. We welcome the report's focus and its clear calls for action. committees.parliament.uk/committee/203/…
🚨 Help make the 10-Year Health Plan a reality for seriously ill children On 18 November, the APPG for Children Who Need Palliative Care is holding a drop-in event and roundtable meeting. 👉 We need your help to get MPs there. Invite your MP here: togetherforshortlives.org.uk/campaign/pleas…
The National Audit Office report on adult hospices is deeply concerning. But children's hospices face significant funding challenges too. Only 1/3 of their costs are covered by the state compared to 40% for the hospice sector as a whole.
At today's APPG for Children Who Need Palliative Care event, I was pleased to meet with James Cooper, Head of External Affairs and Membership Together for Short Lives, which Children's Hospices Across Scotland is a member organisation and discuss Scottish Government's new palliative care strategy and support for CHAS.
Thank you Stephen Kinnock and amazing parent Laura whose family uses Jessie May for speaking at the APPG for Children Who Need #palliativecare today. We look forward to new DHSC palliative care plan in the coming days and to continuing to work closely with Department of Health and Social Care
