The fact that a 17 year old boy, who was supposed to be under strict suicide watch, was able to just stroll out of a hospital undetected says so much about our mental health services in this country. Rip Shane O’Connor.

Protest gives people hope, opportunity and the dream of a better world. My speech at today’s #KillTheBill demonstration in Parliament Square.

CareTech, one of the UK's biggest private providers making profits from children's homes and foster care, has published its annual accounts. The numbers should make you VERY angry. (Thread)

Oh my god the cops handcuffed a parent. For urging them to do something. Once she got out of the cuffs she ran into the school and got her kids HERSELF. The police aren't just useless, their harmful. While ordinary people show themselves to be heroes again and again.

One thing I don't think anyone talks seriously enough about is the absolute culture shock of coming to university. Particularly, as a student from a more working-class background.

being the eldest daughter whose finally woken up to the fact you were never allowed the grace to just be a fucking kid. so you won’t have em until your 30s-40s or none at all cause you have some self care & love catching up to do.

I’ve kept my mouth shut until now about the Queen and everything surrounding it, but I’ve just seen that stewards are giving out blankets to people in The Queue and I’m appalled. Where is this care and concern for the thousands of homeless people sleeping on those same streets?

My friend gave birth in prison while shackled to the gurney. They let her hold the baby for 45 mins then took her newborn away. She was in there for a non violent offense and never got to see her child again. Her child was adopted out as infants are in high demand.

Can you imagine the public outcry that would ensue if GCSE aged school-children were made to share classrooms with potentially vulnerable/unsafe adults? And if such classrooms were staffed by volunteers? There would be no peace, & rightly so. The same thing is happening right now

Housing 4 All is Hot (@ahouse4all) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You're not serious about ending homelessness if you don't address the systemic barriers into housing. Application fees, credit checks, making 3x the rent, no pets, giant deposits. It's hard for a housed person to get into an apt. - imagine how hard it is for someone in a tent.
