The reality is, when you go through the medical records of those diagnosed with personality disorder, chances are you won’t find a thorough assessment which evidences the diagnosis So this conversation about criteria is already beyond that poor level of assessment

We need cross neurodivergence advocacy and the amount of people I see on twitter who are convinced they can cleanly separate autism and ADHD into two separate camps is astonishing. The diagnostic overlap and overlap of traits is immense. This is my day job and I wouldn't like to.

What a day! Honoured to be invited to present our Autistic SPACE framework to NHS England LD & Autism Programme. Attended pain seminar by Dr. David Moore then presented Autistic SPACE again for Autistic Self Advocacy Network. Got good news on a paper I can't wait to share. Watch this SPACE !!

There's nothing economically sound about the current system of denying disabled people benefits and then spending millions to defend that denial on appeals. It would be cheaper for them to just give everyone the support they need, but no, the ideology of cruelty trumps economics.

One of the consequences of the NHS being so underfunded and overstretched is vulnerable and gravely ill patients with multiple physical and mental health problems having to coordinate their own incredibly complex care between specialisms that won't speak or write to each other.

You don’t understand why a diagnosis means so much to us, but that’s because you didn’t go your entire life wondering why you were different, and being excluded, shamed, mocked and misunderstood because of it. Diagnosis literally saved my life.

Being a perfectionist in a culture that surrounds you with examples of perfection and demands the same of you is normal, not a personality disorder. So disappointed that @AFNCCF @NHS put their names to this. Just awful 4/4

The Trust involved here is not alone • Short term care • Poor recognition of the nature of SMI • Failure to engage *with* patients • Poor continuity between ward and community •Poor understanding of the MHA •Unrealistic expectations of GPs •And a lack of compassion

Most EHCPs are held by kids with Autism. Of all the various disabilties Autism has got to be the one that in theory should cost the least to provide for really because as I see it all most autistic ppl need is for you to not be a total knob which is free and yet. . . Costs keep

Since about 70% of autistic people have ADHD as well, it seems the predominant neurotype is actually AuDHD; autism without ADHD is a much rarer occurrence. This fact concerns me quite a bit with respect to the research literature.

CBT for anxiety is in essence, about exposure, exposure, exposure The same work for anxiety in autistic people will likely make them worse. They need first -understanding the sensory profile and finding soothing sensory strategies -environment adaptations -learning their

Autistic people are criticised for catastrophizing. The problem is not that we are wrong; thanks to our pattern recognition abilities, our predictions are usually spot on. The real issue is that we typically highlight issues that are supposed to remain hidden.

I don’t mind people thinking autism and ADHD are overdiagnosed if they are able to tell me how much autism and ADHD there is supposed to be, explain why that’s the correct amount and show me evidence that diagnosis rates outstrip that

Also: employment status didn't relate to quality of life in autistic adults. I'd like to see deep mixed methods study on that. What socio-economic resources (family, disability benefits, etc) did unemployed people have, & how related? Work may be stressful sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
