My heart goes out to everyone, especially young folks, who have watched their plans, dreams, desires, and hopes derail over the course of this last, difficult year. Drop a link to the thing you are most proud of publishing during the last 12 months. I'd like to read it, please๐Ÿค—

Being a parent is a wonderful but very exacting order, whose stakes on the line are enormous. Not everyone is capable of becoming the kind of small saint a parent is demanded to be. Much of the evil in the world arises from our needless societal drive to coerce into procreating.

The kind of joy I have been opened into by grace and possibility never of my own making, is like a living breath flowing from a wound that cannot stop bleeding... This bandaged place is the locus of its own broke light. A loving dialogue of deep Wills in the space between us.

"And they livved ent laughed und loved and left." --Joyce, Finnegan's Wake. (Been exploring the Wake after finishing Ulysses, and I honestly think I may have cracked it with a theory that can account for the whole of the text, not just gesture at a signification.)

Honestly I feel bad about not being active on Twitter for so long because, frankly, it was so worthwhile to talk to many of you guys in a relatively small circle. I just felt really bummed about losing access to my old account I had already built up for literally 0 reason.

Ulysses literally makes you want to laugh, wank, cry, and pray at the same time. I have never been so moved by a piece of literature. After I finished it, I immediately did a closer, annotated re-reading of the text in a marathon following Bloomsday. Joyce is a fucking oracle.

Systems of oppression are necessarily invisible while still operative. Thus, the most pressing and gross injustices of society right now are likely those that few are talking about.

Maybe it's not classically "hard lit", although many people hold the ergodic, experimental novel in high artistic esteem, but I read Mark Z. Danielewski's House of Leaves as a pre-teen, and it absolutely hooked me by showing me the limits of what literature could be. I vote this!

I'm grateful because my debut poetry collection Spin My Body through the Ark (Wipf & Stock) was taught in an undergraduate philosophy class for a "Love, Hate, & God" module! Really important milestone for me.
