Pleasure to present at the Summer @SCOTorth meeting and catch up with friends at our national teaching day. Highlight was definitely the debate on the future of #roboticsurgery

Our featured author for September is Mr John M. Bayram of Edinburgh Orthopaedics. His recent paper in #BJO concluded that clinical frailty may prove to be a useful metric to assist in the prioritization of arthroplasty waiting lists. #Arthroplasty #Ortho ow.ly/tLVl50PNOKg

By current standards, the MCIDs for most joint-specific outcome measures would probably result in the conclusion that there was no clinically meaningful difference for a TKA or THA – an illogical conclusion. #BJJ #OrthoTwitter #Research Prof Fares Haddad ow.ly/zjZy50TAcYy

THA & TKA patients showed comparable eligibility (34%) with similar day-case success rates (59% to 61%), whereas medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty patients demonstrated higher eligibility (52%) & day-case success (72%). #BJO #Arthroplasty #Ortho ow.ly/XoKV50Ufe8W

An important study that was ahead of its time. This confirms that robotic arm-assisted unicompartmental arthroplasty is here to stay, a timely paper in view of the NICE deliberation in the UK. #BJJ #Knee #Surgery #Robotics boneandjoint.org.uk/Article/10.130…

Is the resistance of some surgeons to adopt UKA because our PROMs are not adequate for comparing TKA to newer techniques (UKA, robotic-assistance)? "Are Current PROMs Fit for Purpose to Evaluate Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty?" Read open-access here: t.ly/wJ4lz

Can you ski after a partial knee replacement? Well, the US’ Lindsey Vonn just had a top-10 finish in the World Cup downhill after hers. sportskeeda.com/us/olympics/ne…

The use of PROMs to assess the outcome after TKA and THA is increasing, with associated regulatory mandates. However, the robustness and clinical relevance of long-term data are often questionable. #TKA #THA #Arthroplasty ow.ly/PiJE50V8o8i

Brilliant sessions at #BASK2025 on indications for partial knee arthroplasty Nick London & the biomechanical superiority of PKA Amy Garner. Although evident, are the benefits of PKA over TKA fully captured by our current PROMs? or are ceiling effects in the way?🤔
