2013 – Bass player Rick Huxley of the Dave Clark Five on This Day in Rock History! Bass player Rick Huxley, one of the founding members of 60s pop group The Dave Clark Five, has died at the age of 72. He joined the band in 1958 and played on hits including Bits and Pieces

2008 – Ronald Isley’s appeal against a three-year jail term for tax fraud was rejected by a US court. The 65-year-old singer of the Isley Brothers argued against being imprisoned in an Indiana jail on the grounds of age and poor health

2006 – Some mistake surely? Seventies has-been Leo Sayer (!) tops the U.K. chart with “Thunder in My Heart.” Arctic Monkeys spend their third week atop the album chart with Whatever People Say That I Am, That’s What I’m Not.

2004 – Eminem’s ex-wife Kimberly Mathers was jailed for a month after being found using cocaine while on probation. Mathers was also put on a 90-day drug abuse programme

2004 – “Bark at the Moon” singer Ozzy Osbourne is named a Godlike Genius at the NME Awards in London. Best Album is Radiohead’s Hail to the Thief, while Kings of Leon win Best New Band and Best International Band.

This day 2008 – A fan paid $3,000 (£1,500) for a jewelled bra, which Shakira wore on her Oral Fixation world tour in 2007, in an auction for the pop star’s children’s charity.

2007 – Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty was fined £300 and disqualified from driving for two months after admitting to two charges of driving without insurance or a licence at Thames Magistrates Court in London.

On this day-2008 – Confirming long standing rumors, Activision announced this morning that they’re teaming with rock band Aerosmith to produce an entirely new “Guitar Hero” game dedicated solely to virtually playing along with their songs, titled simply “Guitar Hero: Aerosmith”.

This day - 2008 – a flat once rented by the Beatles in London went up for sale for £1.75m. The band shared the three-bedroom top floor property in Green Street, Mayfair in the autumn of 1963.

This day - 2006 – The gravesite of AC/DC singer Bon Scott in Fremantle Cemetery in Western Australia is classified with a heritage listing. Scott died in February 1980 at the age of 33.

This day - 2005 – Michael Jackson is rushed to the hospital, suffering from flu. His stay means that jury selection in the King of Pop’s child molestation trial has to be postponed.

2008 – two releases by Oasis were voted the best British albums ever recorded in a poll of 11,000 people. Their 1994 album Definitely Maybe came top, while their 1995 follow-up (What’s the Story) Morning Glory was second in the vote.

2004 – Johnny Cash’s family blocked an attempt by advertisers to use his hit song ‘Ring of Fire’ to promote haemorrhoid-relief products. The idea is said to have been backed by Merle Kilgore, who co-wrote the song with Cash’s wife, June Carter Cash.

This day-2001 – The Backstreet Boys are forced to take the stage at Denver’s Pepsi Center without group member Kevin Richardson, who never makes it to the gig thanks to weather related airport delays. The show went on as normal.

The Minister of Finance has announced that the budget speech will no longer be delivered on Wednesday 13 March as previously announced. It is now expected to be delivered on Tuesday 19 March 2019
