The next in our series of images is a rare view of the craters clearly showing the 2nd mine crater. As you can see, 3 years have passed since the craters were created.

White City or what was left of it in 1984/5. Now it’s just a level ploughed field. Pictures on 35 mm print. Located near the sunken lane at Beaumont Hamel and close to where Malins filmed the mine exploding on Hawthorn Ridge. My pictures I took. A silent witness gone forever now.

109 years ago this afternoon (29 Dec 1915) Res Inf Reg 110 raided 6th Northampton Reg at Fricourt capturing 13 prisoners. For the British it was a disaster many lessons were learnt amidst claims of cowardice, but the incident brought about an improvement to defensive procedures

In this episode we talk to Neal Russell about 2 disastrous trench raids on #Somme. Why did they carry out raids and how did the soldiers feel about them? And why was a German raid on British trenches at Fricourt such a disaster for the 6th Northampton’s? podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/tal…

At the risk of banging the same old drum, this is simply not good enough Commonwealth War Graves. Rather than tell me to mind my own business peter hudson, can you and DG CWGC acknowledge that your revised cemetery maintenance is simply not working?

Commonwealth War Graves RUSI Do you ever consider that you've completely lost the plot? Proudly hosting events while your cemeteries continue deteriorating? Stark evidence from a day on the Somme earlier this month - Couin, Auchonvillers, Serre Road No 2 & Puchevillers.

Rarely use this platform nowadays but it's a good way to highlight the continuing deterioration of CWGC cemeteries and memorials. I know I am not alone in pointing this out.
