Carmel O’Hagan. ⚫️ Ask questions. Steve Waters FCCT It makes me want to weep. As a retired HT who went through quite a few Ofsted regimes, each grew more and more stressful. As a governor, our staff were brilliant and resilient (I hope) but did not deserve the treatment they received. New framework worse than ever. Not listened.

Ruth Swailes The issue is not that teachers disagree with accountability but that the Ofsted inspection version of accountability damages lives, rather than promoting professional development. Grading is part of this damaging process.

Excoriating forensic analysis of all the truths dodged at Ofsted accountability hearing. Remember Ofsted misled the court during Ruth Perry’s inquest claiming to train inspectors on wellbeing when no inspector had encountered such training. Protecting reputation trumps truth.

So much has been missed in the “reform” of Ofsted which will change nothing that matters. But this bit is so important. If the only place you can turn if Ofsted rips your school or you to shreds unfairly is Ofsted itself then there is no accountability. This has to change.
