Meanwhile week 37 (I think, might be 36 or 38 - I'm losing the will to live let alone count) rolls around chez Vallejo with still no final EHCP or even a sensible draft. Bodes well.

If you thought one #safetyvalve judicial review was big news, how about three? Three cases, two local authorities and finally the chance to shed light on this secretive, scandalous scheme. #stopsafetyvalve

All The Labour Party are saying about #SEND is inclusion in MS for all children. This won’t work while the current attendance guidelines are in place. It won’t work while the zero tolerance behaviour guidelines are in place. Labour don’t understand the issue #SENDTwitter

There's only one Attendance Contract needed in England's schools right now. Bridget Phillipson & Department for Education, you'd like to crack down on school absence. Okay. But first, you need to crack down on the things schools do which stop kids from learning. Let's take a tour... 🧵

This feels like a little chink of light in the darkness that is SEND land - a national media outlet picking up something that every parent who's had to fight an LA for their child's education knows they get up to. We need the wider public to see this story for the scandal it is.

Joanna P. Booth Children's Services are hugely overspent. They're also committed to saving £1m next year and they don't currently know how. Sorry, am I being boring?

If this goes ahead (tightening eligibility criteria for statutory SEND support) then restriction of appeal rights to the SEND First Tier Tribunal will almost certainly be coming too

Please please sign this. Many people describe the SEND system as "broken". They're not wrong, but the law isn't the part that needs reform as it's actually good; the problem is the lack of accountability and enforcement. Weakening the law would be disastrous for most vulnerable.
