Science Is Strategic Codie Sanchez As others have said, the biggest factor was that state tuition subsidies stopped keeping up with enrollment growth and other increased costs. dvschroeder.blogspot.com/2015/08/why-co…

When we don't support and fund major services on the federal and state level, we seek local funds to keep them afloat. This causes inequities in our communities since our major revenue at that level is property taxes. #ncpol

A 10-year-girl in Delaware picked up “It’s Perfectly Normal” while at the library with her mother. When they came home, she showed her mom the chapter on sexual abuse and said, “This is me.” She was being abused by her father, and it was the first time she’d spoken about it.

It turns out - not so well! Far from out-performing, North Carolina's economy has mostly tracked the national average since 2011. We've even lagged behind many of our regional neighbors in that time - *especially* in real household income. carolinaforward.org/blog/nc-uneven… #ncpol

Supply-side economics - slashing taxes, deregulation and weakening worker protections - never works. Republicans in #ncpol have made this their signature "achievement" in North Carolina, always promising big economic gains. But it's never materialized. carolinaforward.org/blog/nc-uneven…

Don’t know why the fuck anyone would listen to Thom “I cut public education by HALF A BILLION DOLLARS as NC House Speaker” Tillis when it comes to education funding.

Thanks for sharing Earl Vaughan Jr. Quick read for those who support public education. Appreciate my colleagues/friends who put this together and signed on as endorsers.

Feeling inspired by Justin Parmenter’s work to identify the discriminatory practices of NC private schools receiving taxpayer $ via vouchers. Let's look at how their policies discriminate against students on the basis of disability, shall we? #nced #ncga

The reason it’s important for teachers and legislators to internalize this fact is because the proposal is SO common yet perpetually a mathematical impossibility. Continuing to point to admin salaries as a plausible solution to teacher pay is a trust-eroding distraction.

This was a terrific event! Wiley Nickel 🇺🇸 was detained by Congressional duties but joined via Zoom. Rachel Hunt delivered a magnificent speech here in NC. Just a great time with fantastic, hardworking advocates. It’s never a bad time to support public schools or Public Schools First NC!

I also think it’s probably unconstitutional but at least stupid and definitely unpopular to let the shittiest busybody in your neighborhood pick what books a teenager can read. @ThePlumLineGS is right. The normal person backlash is underrated, underreported, and growing.
