Fascinating and very thorough study into three years of 20mph zones in Edinburgh, which concludes they "significantly" reduce the number of crashes and casualties. Something of a rebuff for those who argue they are pointless. Full BMJ paper in link. jech.bmj.com/content/early/…

A car with an anti-LTN badge parking in the middle of the Sainsbury’s car park not in a bay (despite plenty available) really does highlight their inherently selfish attitude!!

This image illustrates how vacuous campaigns against LTNs are. The faux-concern disappears overnight leaving all the same issues that justified the LTN in the first place. No sensible solutions, nothing to offer but self-righteous objections & mostly they don’t seem to even care

What a shame that John Stewart has been removed from his post as the Chair of Trustees at the Campaign for Better Transport. This does not bode well for the movement to divert cement mixers and skip lorries onto residential urban side streets.

Streatham Hill LTN Campaign for Better Transport John Stewart Whilst acknowledging John’s sincerely held views this had been totally untenable for a long time. Like having a climate denier chairing Greenpeace. You just can’t deny clear evidence and still expect to keep credibility and official positions.

There is strong evidence that LTNs can make streets safer by lowering traffic levels, reducing street crime and enabling people to walk & cycle more. We continue to support boroughs implementing well planned schemes to cut traffic, improve safety & increase active travel 🚶‍♀️🚲💚

🧵 1/2. Yesterday, Transport Secretary Louise Haigh announced the UK Government’s commitment to providing 'unprecedented levels of funding' for cycling and walking, as a key component in efforts to improve public health and reduce inequality.

We’ve been avoiding this site lately for obvious reasons but this podcast episode is fantastic and it’s SO nice to have an actual adult in charge of transport again!!
