Bryan Glezerson Josh McGough, MD I didn’t have any events during my iud insertion but still passed out in a puddle of my own vomit due to the pain. Uneventful ≠ painless. Please listen to us.

Bryan Glezerson Josh McGough, MD Have you ever had an IUD inserted? Had a LEEP? A cervical biopsy? I have. And it. Is. Excruciating. And done without ANY pain management or relief outside of Ibuprofen. I’ve also given birth. So when I say it’s all excruciating, IT IS!

Bryan Glezerson Josh McGough, MD I don’t know a single person whose IUD insertion, endometrial biopsy, LEEP, or colpo were “uneventful” and painless. Are you talking about cadavers or patients who still have a pulse? My IUD, LEEPs, and colpos were excruciating

Bryan Glezerson Josh McGough, MD Yeah, no. Every single one of my friends and family who have had one, including myself, have all remarked on how painful it is. I’m not going to believe ONE paper published in Moscow about this. It is an EXTREMELY painful procedure and should be taken as such

Goos Hofstee Bryan Glezerson Josh McGough, MD That's what I want to know. I threw up and passed out during my IUD insertion, but it was clinically described as "uneventful" in the notes because there were no serious complications, and I didn't end up in the hospital.

Bryan Glezerson Josh McGough, MD Uneventful: meaning; they don't scream or pass out. Pain perception >6/10 for about 40% of people. You'd want something stronger if *you* had good odds of suffering the same pain as a finger amputation, a #long bone, major joint dislocation or kidney stone.

Bryan Glezerson Josh McGough, MD Sorry - you're wrong. Endometrial biopsies are not uneventful. In the UK - with the recommended ibuprofen +/or paracetamol - 35% patients suffer SEVERE pain. That's if they're patients of British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy hysteroscopists.

Dr Robbie Erskine Bryan Glezerson Josh McGough, MD That's right! A large percentage of women revealed that their pain was disregarded or underestimated by healthcare providers. This ultimately contributes to the idea that it's a "tolerable" procedure.

Is your MP OK with sewage pollution until 2040? Email them now to say no to the Thames Water creditors' outrageous deal: weownit.org.uk/act-now/take-a…

Private train leasing companies syphoned 1.16 billion pounds in dividends since 2022. The Railways Bill won't change this. I've asked my MP to attend We Own It's session on how the Railways Bill can deliver for us, not profiteers. @We_ownit weownit.org.uk/act-now/railwa…

This. CBT is massively over-rated, and over used. Many people experience exactly what is described here - being made to 'own' their MH problems as if they caused them. Fail and its your fault.

Dr Katie Cairns (@kiityc) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is a shortsighted decision by Trusts not to recruit, in order to save money on staffing costs. Given maternity negligence payouts currently cost more than providing care, prioritising safety and adequate staffing HAS to come first.

Doesn’t come naturally to native brits but if something is wrong with your family or friends you need to be extremely pushy and assertive with the NHS or they will just die
