Day 2 of #iipf2024, Ron Davies , presented his paper "You can't tax what you can't see: Using fixed cargo scanners to combat tax evasion". A work that uses transaction-level customs data from Uganda to estimate the impact of scanners on trade and taxes collected. IIPF - International Institute of Public Finance

Day 2 of #iipf2024 - Eivind Bjørkås presented "Cross-Border Shopping in Alcoholic Beverages - Evidence From a Natural Experiment". His work estimates the size of norwegian cross-border shopping of alcohol + its effects on tax revenue during the Covid-19 travel restrictions IIPF - International Institute of Public Finance

Final day at #iipf2024 - Johannes Scheuerer presented "Tax Haven Use and Employment Decisions: Evidence from Norway". By using administrative data of Norwegian firms and workers, his work (co-authored with Ron Davies) studies employment responses to aggressive tax planning.

Forrige uke holdt Annette Alstadsæter en presentasjon for forskningsavdelingen ved NMBU. Presentasjonen handlet om senterets lange reise fra en idé til å bli et voksende miljø ved universitetet. Alltid en glede å dele vår erfaring med kollegaer på tvers av fakulteter! Handelshøyskolen

Storbedriftsavdelingen ved Skattetaten var på besøk hos oss. Under møtet fikk vi lære mer om avdelingens arbeid og så presenterte vi noen av våre forskningsprosjekter og vårt internasjonale policyarbeid. Deltakere fikk også en omvisning av Norges vakreste campus!

I dag arrangerte vi et seminar for ansatte ved Handelshøyskolen, om kunsten å skrive kronikker for media. Vidar Iversen, debattansvarlig i Dagens Næringsliv, delte verdifulle tips om hvordan man kan skrive artikler som er både engasjerende og lett forståelige. Takk for besøket, Vidar!

Skatteforsk var til stede på Åpenhetsseminaret 2024. Andreas Økland snakket om hvorfor det er viktig for allmenheten i Norge å vite hvem faktisk eier selskapene vi har i landet. Skjult eierskap kan være en sikkerhetsrisiko og brukes ofte for å unngå skatt.
