When I *Listen* to a *Talk*, I don't want to *Read* walls of text at the same time. I don't read text-only slides, unless for summary slides, slides explaining complicated maths, or if I am explicitly given the time. Also: No-Slide talks can be great. #SciComm #AcademicChatter

While I applaud the new eLife - the journal model to transform academic publishing, here is my idea: Instead of submitting to individual journals, authors go through a centralized, open review, and journals fight over papers on a "marketplace". Along the lines of Review Commons. #OpenScience

Rate my level of nerdiness: Anecdotally, I just realized that my reading speed seems to correlate with how much I Iike a book. Now I have a strong urge to collect data and quantify it.

Came home today greeted by a nice physics demonstration: the afternoon sun hitting my bathroom mirror in just the right angle to function as a prism and produce a rainbow in the hallway. Science can be so pretty.
