“You and I will come to an end somewhere. The most beautiful poem in the world falls quiet,” 23-year-old Parnia Abbasi wrote, who was among 224 Iranians killed by Israeli strikes so far. Nick Paton Walsh takes a closer look at the toll on civilians across Iran.

A reminder that the US overthrow of Saddam Hussain plunged Iraq into years of sectarian bloodshed, paved the way for ISIS and installed a kleptocracy that has failed to provide the most basic services.

Israel is a nuclear-armed state, with one of the most advanced military’s in the world, funded and armed by the U.S., that started a war of aggression with Iran and is committing genocide in Gaza… And the BBC makes it sound like they’re William Wallace resisting the English.

This is 2003 all over again. #Iraq had no WMDs then, #Iran has no nuclear weapons now. The only country in the region that does is #Israel. This context should be added to any news coverage, lest journalists risk peddling war propaganda just like they did in 2003.

A key line in this new The New York Times story: "Contrary to Israeli claims, senior administration officials were unaware of any new intelligence showing that the Iranians were rushing to build a nuclear bomb — a move that would justify a pre-emptive strike."

“I mean, you don't know that I'm gonna even do it. You don't know, I may do it, I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I'm gonna do.” Well now we know… whatever comes next this war will be Trumps legacy!

Yes how dare Iran invade a sovereign country, starting civil war&inspiring Islamic State; prop up torturers, war criminals & theocrats; bankroll the singular human rights stain of our time, a campaign of ethnic cleansing and slaughter called genocide by experts -- Oh wait.

I'm no fan of the Iranian government or theocracy in general, but most of my criticism has to do with domestic policy. As an international actor, they don't have clean hands, but neither does anyone else in the region. They largely act out of rational self-interest...
