Finally completed part 1 of putting Apache Pulsar's durability claims to the test. Spoiler alert, I couldn't make it lose data, or deliver any messages out-of-order. Still, I think it makes for interesting reading for those interested in how it works. jack-vanlightly.com/blog/2018/10/2…

Jay Kreps @paul_snively Josh Long Apache Kafka The sum of it makes Kafka not suitable for the CQRS scenarios where "append-only log storage" is a critical aspect and gives alternatives like Apache Pulsar a huge advantage. Kafka is good for the massive events processing, but IMO not as a log storage :(
