Blink and you miss it! A couple of blue butterflies (not sure if common or brown argus) in a field corner today. So good to see them after such a bad year with the cool wet weather Amen for late season wildflowers 🌺 and leaving mowing until late as you can in the season!

Great morning, visiting our local Kings demo site. So interesting to see so many different mixes in the ground & talk about how they deliver for nature, work within our system, & fit into schemes. Plenty of insects including this Bloody-Nosed beetle enjoying it too

In our third year now of running trap crops with companions in our osr. The game is as tricky as ever but still seeing promising results of differences in flea beetle damage between trap crop and OSR + companion. Still crossing fingers and toes for rain !

#FarmWildlife_spotlight_research 1: Wildlife-friendly farming increases crop yield. Whenever asked if nature-friendly farming can be good for productivity, I refer to Pywell et al (2015) showing productivity can increase by creating habitats on up to 8% of cropped land🧵

England faces one of its worst harvests on record due to last winter’s heavy rain, according to ECIU. 🌧️ But nature-friendly farming helps. Take livestock farmers Jon & Jan Thornes for example. 💚 #NFFN 📸: Jon Thornes

A barrage of questions on the farming budget at DEFRA orals today... Concern is justified. Our recent Scale of Need report is clear: we need more—not less—investment in nature-friendly farming to protect wildlife, fight climate change, & ensure food security. ‼️
