It's not uncommon for injured birds & animals to end up at my house. This 1 is a wee bit more unusual though & was dropped off by a local crofter. Not sure I can do anything for it, it hasn't moved for the last few hours & may be too far gone... #TireeRanger #DiscoverTiree

Buy to let v much the weak spot right now. it works as long as you believe you will make capital gains and you are at least cash flow neutral. When neither of those things are true the only rational thing to do is to sell fast...#buytolet thetimes.co.uk/article/heres-…

This is the @menshealthuk interview on mental health and other issues that I did with Huw Edwards … to those saying he is “playing the mental health card” - I suggest you take a long hard look in the mirror and ask what kind of person you really are menshealth.com/uk/mental-stre…

Some cracking commentary there from Dame Laura; “Ooo Max Homa has just nailed some young lady. She seems ok. Took it well”. (He caught a flyer, FYI)

Mortgage on 350k at 2%: £1484 a month and total payment £445,126. Mortgage on £350k at 5.5%: £2149 and total £644,745. To get payment back to £1484, you can only borrow £243k (total payment 447k). And that's why house prices are falling... More here. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

We transformed Paradise with an Enterprise Zone - and now it’s time to go again with an Investment Zone across Brum, Cov, & Wolverhampton 📈 With tax incentives & borrowing against future business rates, we will attract global companies, drive regeneration, create local jobs ✅

The Ministry of Silly Walks would like to remind you that today is #InternationalSillyWalksDay. Public displays of Silly Walking are strongly encouraged. Post your #SillyWalks for grant consideration and beware of any walks that are not particularly silly. 🎩 🧐

How did we end up with a rate of tax on capital gains so much lower than the rate of tax on employment income? The very silly history of UK CGT, in five charts.

Day 4 of my futile one-woman crusade to keep real images popping up on your feed rather than AI. Some times the Lake District will give the briefest glimpse of light and it’s all worth it. The two crows flying above the tree were just a happy accident 🧡

New polling paints an interesting picture of the public's tax-raising priorities, and a depressing picture of the public's understanding of tax and spending. I have no easy answers, but I do have some rather alarming charts.

If we have a big fiscal hole to fill economically sensible actions - increase income tax, delay tax rises to 28-29, cut spending - look politically horrible. Politically easier - tax banks, wealth, savings etc - economically horrible. thetimes.com/article/62e00d…
